About Double Check

A double check occurs when a piece moves, putting the king in check, while simultaneously uncovering a check from another piece. Because two pieces are giving check at once, the only legal response is to move the king — blocking or capturing one checking piece won't address the other. Double checks often lead directly to checkmate.
