About Rook Endgame
Rook endgames are the most frequently occurring endgame type in chess, making them the most important to master. Key principles include keeping the rook active, cutting off the opponent's king, and using the Lucena and Philidor techniques. Tactical ideas such as the rook sacrifice to promote a pawn or the back-rank trick appear regularly and must be deeply understood.
